About Lake Mburo National Park

Lake Mburo is compact, dry-acacia savannah wrapped around a chain of lakes on the road between Entebbe and Bwindi — without the predator density that makes walking risky elsewhere, so it's one of the very few Ugandan parks where you can go on foot, by bike or on horseback among zebra, eland, impala and buffalo.

The absence of elephant and (mostly) of lion is exactly what makes Mburo different: guided walking safaris and mountain-bike rides put you at ground level with zebra and antelope in a way most parks can't offer, and a sunset boat trip on the lake adds hippo, crocodile and excellent birdlife.

It's Uganda's best spot for zebra and the only park in the country with impala, making it a natural stop to combine with a longer route south or west.
